Our project is focused on VOCs. VOCs are volatile organic compounds that can accumulate in the air from chemicals in many man-made items in our classroom environments. These VOCs can cause many health effects such as eye, nose, and throat irritation, nausea, headaches, etc. What we want to do is test the indoor air quality to check our VOC levels and ensure that the air we are breathing is safe for our students and staff here. By renting MiniRAE Photoionization Detectors, we plan on going to different classes around campus and actually testing these levels so that we can find the problem and see what changes need to be made.
